Noel Harding

Musculoskeletal Physio
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP HCPC registered

Prior to commencing his training as a physiotherapist in 1995, Noel served in the Royal Air Force for 6 years.

He qualified from Keele University in 1998 as a Chartered Physiotherapist. His first job was in Bangor, North Wales before moving to the hugely acclaimed Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic hospital, Oswestry.

Noel has a natural affinity to out-patient work, especially dealing with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

Since 2015 he has combined this with working alongside many of the orthopaedic consultants in clinic, being part of both the busy Sports Injuries, and Foot & Ankle teams. More recently, Noel is the first physiotherapist to join the specialist team working with the fast- developing Veterans Orthopaedic Service at RJAH.
Noel has a specialist interest in fitness and has invested considerable time training in the areas of Strength and Conditioning, both in the UK and abroad. This has given him greater insight into assessment of athletic performance with a view to identifying key areas of advice and treatment to help reduce athletic injuries.

Noel is a qualified clinical educator, regularly supervising students, and plays an active part in the ongoing in-service training programme for undergraduate and qualified staff.

Having enjoyed working in private practice at Borders Physio and Sports Injury Centre for some years, he become a partner in the business in 2012. He enjoys being part of the dynamic team who strive to offer an excellent service, while maintaining the strong links to the consultants at the nearby RJAH hospital. Noel trained in the technique of Kinesio taping with some of the leading European experts, and subsequently has designed and delivered multiple physiotherapy courses at Borders Physio Centre, in the field of taping to address pain and enhance recovery.

Noel has always been a keen sportsman.

In his RAF and University years he played rugby representing RAF U-21’s and Strike command. More recently he participated especially in Triathlon and mountain challenges. He has completed multiple events including Ironman Switzerland 2006 and Norseman 2012, and competed in the Everest Marathon. This has given him a special interest and insight in assessment and treatment of lower limb problems, and, combined with his training in Strength and Conditioning, he has a keen focus on running assessment and treating running-related injuries.

Aside from work, Noel has been a huge fan of Motorcycle racing for many years.

Being part of this world generated a connection with the BSB medical team, where he held a position providing high level physio care for the riders for over 10 years. He has been very privileged to have worked with many riders from BSB, WSBK, MotoGP and the TT. His love for rugby was rewarded when in 2017 Noel was invited to join the medical support team for the Scottish Exiles Rugby Union team. Working again with sportsmen at this high level proved an invaluable experience.

In his spare time, he enjoys climbing mountains and hill walking. This has included trips to Europe, South America, and the Himalayas. He is now married and a father to 3 amazing young children who keep him very busy. He completes a few events every year to maintain his fitness and inspire his children for their futures.
