In 2008, Carwyn went on to develop his skills further at the world-renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen.

Here he gained considerable experience in many key areas but developed a specific interest in treating Musculoskeletal Outpatients. This has remained his passion, and his primary focus in developing his expertise.

 

In October 2013, Carwyn took up a Senior Physiotherapist role in Musculoskeletal Outpatients at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

In 2016 he gained a Clinical Specialist post, while also completing Masters Level modules and gaining invaluable qualifications through Glyndwr and Keele university. These skills in Independent Prescribing (prescribing medication for MSK conditions) and Soft tissue and Joint Injections have launched him into the world of Advanced Practice Physiotherapy. He is now undertaking a full Masters/MSc degree in Advanced Practice in Physiotherapy in Cardiff University on a part time basis. Currently, Carwyn is undertaking his dissertation, investigating physiotherapy and surgery for hip pain in young adults.

Carwyn currently works within the Shropshire Orthopaedic Outreach Service team, as triage and lower limb lead, based at RJ & AH Orthopaedic Hospital.

His role is in diagnoses of conditions, providing evidence-based treatment including injections and rehabilitation advice, and referring to Consultants when required.

He is passionate about helping patients recover from injuries and maximise their potential to achieve their desired level of function.
Sport has always been a big part of Carwyn’s life, from a young age. Football was his main passion, but nowadays he enjoys plays golf. In his spare time he continues to support an ambitious local Rugby club, COBRA, providing advice and treatment for players in the 1st, 2nd and youth team. Carwyn also spends as much time as possible with his wife and 2 young children who keep him very busy.
